In addition, the company has garnered top rankings in other independent studies: For several consecutive years, Sectra has received top rankings in the independent KLAS study. This customer survey, conducted among PACS users in over 140 U.S.-based healthcare institutions, evaluates the systems of eight leading vendors. In 2000, Sectra received similar accolades in a study conducted at the Hannover Medical School, Germany. A team of radiologists evaluated six market-leading PACS workstations for ease of use and performance; Sectra was rated highest in all of the categories evaluated.

TIGHT INTEGRATION IS THE KEY

What Hospitals have to say...

“The PACS was an opportunity to optimize resources in an urban environment where there’s high volume, high need, and a radiologist shortage. Having the PACS has improved our clinical quality, eliminated film loss, optimized staff productivity, and created an environment where we can be future oriented. We’re basically on the cutting edge. It’s awesome what we’ve been able to accomplish”, Dr Locko says.

Dr Roberta Locko is chairman of the Department of Radiology for Harlem Hospital Center and responsible for radiology services in the Generations+/ Northern Manhattan Health Network, New York, USA.

Dr Patrick Malloy is the chairman of the radiology department at Danbury Hospital, a teaching healthcare institution serving 360,000 people in Connecticut and New York, USA.

Enterprise plans to open a large outpatient imaging center outside of the hospital was an important reason to implement the PACS at Danbury Hospital. In the new, conveniently located outpatient imaging center, patients can have their radiology examinations performed without having to travel to the hospital. Radiologists can now review images at the two sites simultaneously, since the facilities share the same workflow manager and image archive.

“The greatest advantage in my opinion is the possibility for several doctors to look at the same image at the same time, but at different sites in the health care enterprise. This is especially important when treating trauma patients or Intensive Care Unit patients where constant availability to images is critical. It may even be a matter of life or death.” Dr Malloy says.
